The Remington Group is Papua New Guinea’s leading print and document solutions provider since 1948, we are focused on the development of our national workforce and are committed to helping and providing job opportunities to the next generation of Papua New Guineans.  The organisation has offered our On-The-Job Training, Apprenticeship and Graduate Development Programmes specifically to groom our future leaders.  Since 2020 the Group has made a commitment to Don Bosco Technical School’s Electrical and Information Technology Trade Stream to award K1000.00 to the Dux students on their graduation.

Our On-The-Job (OJT) Training Programme

The Remington Group’s OJT Programme is designed to equip students with the necessary skills, knowledge and attitude required in their field to apply in the working environment. Students join the Group and are part of our team for 5- 9 weeks, depending on their prerequisite hours of industry training needed to complete their programme.

This year we have had four batches of students join us to do their OJT. The first batch of students from the Don Bosco Technical Institute (DBTI) commenced their OJT Programme with the Group from the 26th of May through to 15th July. The second batch of OJT students also from the Don Bosco Technical Institute joined the Group in September. Our third and fourth batch of OJT students are from the Don Bosco Technical School and joined the Group in October.

The Remington Group is extremely proud to receive news from the Don Bosco Technical School that one of our OJT students, Leedan Towara is the Dux of the year for the Grade 12 Information Technology Stream.  Students like Leedan are the reason why the Remington Group is committed to developing our young Papua New Guineans who work hard to achieve their dreams.

“Our young people are the future Papua New Guinea. It is the responsibility of all of us older generations to ensure that we provide them with the best possible start in life. Our students here today are so very fortunate to be able to benefit from the hard labour of their parents and extended families. Many of your families have gone without to make sure you get the education you need to be able to succeed in life, find a job, build a career and then have your own families, and so on it goes. It’s one thing to be educated, but what kind of quality is your education? On a smaller scale, our businesses depend on bringing aboard Papua New Guineans that are looking to build a bright future, because our strength is in our people”- Peter Goodwin, CEO Remington Group.

In addition to presenting the three Dux Awardees prizes, one lucky student Jumall Tabogani will have an opportunity to work with the Remington Group after answering an impromptu question by our CEO.

Group CEO, Peter Goodwin when presenting the Dux of the year awards encouraged students to; “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”, reciting the famous quote by Arthur Ashe.  When Peter asked the graduating class “Who Arthur Ashe was?”, Jumall eagerly raised his hand and answered the question correctly.

Jumall’s quick wits has scored him an interview with our HR Department for a job opportunity.
