FX Business Centre, a business unit under the Remington Group, has announced a new partnership with the National Judicial Staff Services (NJSS). This collaboration addresses a critical operational need within the NJSS: managing vast archives of physical court document files.
The NJSS currently hold an estimated 96,000 hardcopy court files dating back to the 1930s. Managing and retrieving data from this growing volume of historical records have become a major challenge for the department. In Port Moresby alone, roughly 20 shipping containers packed with legal archives are scheduled to be converted into secure digital files.
To resolve this issue, FX business Centre through Remington Digital Solutions is now providing an end-to-end digital scanning and advanced data management services. By individual file scanning and integrating the digitized data directly into existing judicial systems, the project will ease physical storage constraints and streamline document access.
At a recent press conference, Registrar Mr. Ian Augerea, along with senior officers from the archives department and representatives from Remington, discussed the initiative and its long-term impact on judicial operations.
“Remington has come on board with a solution, that allows us to easily extract data from all scanned documents,” said Mr. Augerea.
NJSS officials noted that separating closed files from active court records will allow staff to retrieve information far more efficiently. The project utilizes Remington’s partner platform, ELO—an advanced digital document management system, designed to organize and secure all scanned court records.
With this project currently on-going, it will eliminate manual search times, boost operational efficiency, and significantly reduce the risk of document loss, degradation, or environmental damage.
